Refueling Operations
Refueling operations have to be done for a variety of large machinery including helicopters and airplanes. Typically, with large machinery like helicopters and airplanes, the fuel is incredibly dangerous if spilled or handled incorrectly. A fuel spill can be very catastrophic, and incorrect fueling with the wrong fuel or bad fuel can be catastrophic for the machinery. The procedures for fueling operations for large machinery are very complicated, and you have to be trained to know the exact procedure to refuel. The US government details the necessary precautions and procedures on how to properly refuel a lot of machinery. The procedures tend to stress environmental precautions like preventing a fuel spill which would cause terrible environmental consequences. Worker safety for the operator or pilot, and the workers in charge of refueling the machinery is also incredibly important.
If your job requires you to refuel large equipment or machinery, for the safety of your fellow workers, yourself, and your environment, you need to know the correct procedures for refueling and you need to know the correct emergency procedures in the event of an accident. If you are not clear on what you have to do in the event of an emergency with refueling operations, you need to go to your supervisor to clarify your confusion, or you should read the manuals on the subject issued by the government or your employer. The government manuals on the subject of proper fueling operations can be found on various government websites and you should be able to get them from your employer as well.
